Where Angles Fear to Tread

… every day.

This one is from the Washington Post (washingtonpost.com):

“Georgia Senate … there is a real possibility that no candidate will get 50 percent of the vote. If that scenario comes to pass, Chambliss and Martin would square off in a Dec. 2 runoff election.”

I didn’t know that are run-off elections as I assumed that there was a similar ‘first past the post’ system as used here in the UK. I can’t imagine that runoff elections are required very often, but it could be interesting if the Democrats have 59 seats and another election is required for the magical 60 / 40 split of the Senate, which the Democrats are looking for. Hopefully they won’t make it as a democratic house, a very strong democratic senate and a (possible) democratic President would probably not be a ‘very good thing’.

More pointless comment and chat coming up later
