Election 2010 – preparation

Filed under: Politics, UK Politics — Tags: , — Right Angle @ 5:34 pm

Afternoon all,
It’s the election day in UK, and, as such no political comments please. Where Angles Fear to Tread is bravely stepping into the breach tonight to report on the results that matter, the outcomes, tears, spills and anything else we find of interest.
Those who followed the US election with us will know the format. We are here in a secret location in Kent, England, with boards, food and a Red Bull cafeine type substitute for the late night. We have already been out shopping for things which are quintensially British and have the following ready for consumption tonight and early tomorrow:

  • Bacon, Sausage & Egg for Breakfast
  • Bitter (proper beer)
  • West Country Cider
  • Pimms & Lemonade
  • Crisps & Dips
  • Baked Beanz – it’s got to be Heinz(!)
  • Heinz Tomato Ketchup & HP Sauce
  • Jammie Dodgers
  • Bakewell Slices
  • Cheese – Red Leicester, Wensleydale & Stilton
  • Flapjack type snacks
  • Cornish Pasties
  • Bread
  • Sausage Rolls
  • Scotch Eggs
  • (Jamaica) Ginger Cake
  • Indian Starters
  • Pork Pie
  • Mushrooms, Tomatoes and Grapes

We are also planning to go out to eat this evening, so we needed to choose a typical British location. Many options here in Kent, including Fish & Chips, a pub lunch, strangely not Italian Pizzas etc… However, we’re off to have a curry! One can’t get a lot more British than that for an evening out.

  1. Well, it’s not a *very* secret location is it?

Nice food selection. I’m a little dubious about the Great British nature of some of it.

I just voted. I was extremely disappointed that there were no exit pollsters at my polling station (I’ve seen West Wing – they’re always there). I was more excited about telling the Labour representatives I didn’t vote for them than I was about the actual act of voting, which is always oddly anti-climactic…
