Deputy PM addresses LibDem Conference

Filed under: Politics, UK Politics — Tags: — Right Angle @ 4:02 pm

For the first time in 80 years a LibDem leader has stood up in front of his party conference whilst in power (of a sort). In the end a low key speech with no new policies mentioned but a huge attack on the past 13 years of labour politics and governing. Explaining issues in a ‘friendly – person next door’ style which I imagine LibDems like, but is not necessarily what is required for a leader of a country.

He declared the war in Iraq to still be illegal, concentrated on what they have gained by the coalition, and praised the Conservatives ability to negotiate.

A little low key – which I suppose was inevitable as you can’t attack quite as much in power – but with a request to the LibDem party to keep with him.
